Stacking The Shelves and Sunday Post

This meme is hosted by Tynga over at Team Tynga's Reviews, which she describes as follows:

"Stacking The Shelves is all about the books we are adding to our shelves each week, sharing with you our excitement for our newest titles and maybe have you discover a new book in the process!"

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme

How do I have a child old enough to drive? When did that happen?! LOL! Yup, my elder daughter passed her written test this week and now has her Learner's Permit! I'm actually very excited for her and, right after I paid for her license, I drove to the far side of the parking lot and had her get behind the wheel to show her where all the controls were and to take a spin around the parking lot and get a feel for the car. We have lots of ice here now at this time of year, so that is going to be an added risk for her to contend with. We'll do more driving in empty parking lots until she feels more comfortable behind the wheel, and then I'll take her out on the residential side streets. Again, practicing how to brake well before intersections because of the ice is going to be a bit tricky for a new driver but if she can drive in this weather, then she can drive in anything!

Anyone watching the Winter Olympics? We're trying to catch what we can for a bit each evening. Last night, we were watching the Men's Freestyle Skiing and there were three Canadians who made the Finals. We didn't stay up to watch the Finals, so I'm not sure what the Final standings were. My younger daughter loves watching the skating, and I do as well. However, I'm enjoying watching the skiing and snowboarding more than I thought I would. I think it's because of the risk factor involved, and I like to watch all the neat tricks they do!

  1. Oh man. My birthday is in the fall, so I took my driver's test during the winter and it was brutal. However, it was the perfect time to have someone teaching me to drive because it was probably the worst weather I'd ever experience as a driver.

  2. Good luck to your daughter with the driving. I have the Olympics on all day while I’m working, so I’ve seen parts of many different events. Have a great week!

  3. I have a couple new drivers in the family that want me to teach them to drive. I guess I'm the least likely to scare them. Liar's girl and the Big Get-Even look like my kind of books. Have a great week.
